A Challenging Cars and Coffee at Aina Haina

posted in: Meets | 0

The first Cars and Coffee at Aina Haina turned out to be quite a challenge as the auto enthusiasts found themselves competing for space with ballplayers at the adjacent park. Some estimates placed the number of cars at more than 100 and many had to park along the driveways and stacked in front of other cars. The early arrivals got the best spaces.

The gathering brought together a great mix of automobiles. Something for everyone. Old School Imports members brought their classic rides from the ’70s and ’80s. My personal favorites were the Datsun Skyline GT-R “Hakosuka” and a nicely retromodded Toyota Starlet. Thanks, for the treat, Tommy.

A few Brits showed up with MGs and a Roller. Also showing were Porsches, Mercedes-Benz, Mustangs, Mazdas, Camaros, Ferrari, BMWs, Pantera and more.

Coupons for free coffee at the McDonald’s restaurant were handed out. Later in the morning Jonathan Shick of Kia’i Enterprises distributed 15 percent discount coupons for Griot’s Garage products. Team808 member Justin Bell won the raffle prize from Shea’s Luxury Detail for a free wash and wax. Thank you Shea! And a great big mahalo goes to Puna Choo, our door prize announcer, for his great big voice.

Can we make it better for Cars and Coffee at Aina Haina? We’ll be working with the school and ask them if we’ll be able to reserve the upper lot with tape and traffic cones. We’ll also check the park calendar to learn when ball games are scheduled. One strategy that may help would be for us to fill the upper lot first and the lower lot afterwards.

Thanks go out to all the participants for this event. It turned out be a fine-weather-day after all.

From 9:00 to 11:00 AM.

For the month of April Cars and Coffee Hawaii heads to Aina Haina in East Honolulu. Pass this along to your friends.

Date: Sunday, 26 April 2015
Time: 9:00 to 11:00
Location: Aina Haina School, 801 W Hind Drive
More Details At: http://carsandcoffeehawaii.org/cars-and-coffee-goes-to-aina-haina-in-april/

UPDATES

There are three parking areas for our use. We will fill the lower parking level first. That is the area that is along West Hind Drive. We will use the upper level after the lower level has filled. The upper level is the area that fronts the school buildings. The third area is the lot between the school and the public park. We will use that area last as park users will want to park there.

Professional photographers Trevor Jolin and Gabor Paczolay will be on to capture images of your cars. Get your shine on!

A big mahalo goes to Glenn Waki, Owner Operator of the Aina Haina McDonald’s Restaurant! He has generously donated coupons for a free small hot or medium iced Royal Kona Coffee. I will distribute these coupons to the club leaders for distribution to their members. If you’re not a part of a club please see me when you arrive — come early because I only have 50 to give out.

Jonathan Shick of Kia’i Enterprises will be handing out 15 percent discount coupons for Griot’s Garage products. If you’re in need of a quick fix he will have some product on hand.

Shea Mirafuentes of Shea’s Luxury Detail Hawaii will be giving away a free Wash and Wax. Be sure to ask for a door prize ticket.

Please kokua and help with the traffic and staging.

This will be a new location as the Aina Haina School has given us permission to use their parking areas for four Cars and Coffee meets this year. See the schedule here.

The school is across the street from the Aina Haina Shopping Center. Need coffee, refreshments and food? The shopping center has a Foodland and restaurants for whatever you might need. It would be a great place to have lunch after Cars and Coffee.
